One out of every 6 Americans will have a diagnosable mental diagnosis within their lifetimes. This means that there is a high probability that you know someone with a mental health diagnosis. Yet, how many people speak of it? How many people are willing to go on a public platform and reveal their diagnosis and journey to recovery? Lucky for us, there are brave people within our community who are willing to share their experiences in order to demystify mental illness and educate others in the process.
The Washtenaw Community Health Organization (WCHO) Speakers Bureau consists of people in recovery, individuals with a developmental disability or individuals with a substance abuse disorder, family members, providers and/or administration. They provide presentations to high schools, universities, civic organizations, community agencies, and places of worship free of charge.
If you are interested in either having a WCHO Speakers’ Bureau presentation or you, yourself, would like to share your recovery story with others, please contact WCHO Customer Service at 1-877-779-9707
