A city can have the best restaurants, the coolest nightlife and the most interesting people imaginable, but if you don’t have someone to spend your time with than it is nothing. Rebuilding a sense of community after a mental health diagnosis can be challenging. Many times, we are unsure of who we are anymore. We lack the confidence that it takes to make connections and take advantage of the community that we live in. We could even fall short on a desire to even try. Surprisingly enough, there are places within every community that will greet us where we are and give us the strength we need to move beyond. Sometimes, it is the reassurance that we get from case manager or a support group member or the change of perspective that a worship service brings that will provide us with what we need to begin to create our own community.
